Inside the Southborough Historical Society Museum Special Notice: Following favorable approval for funding at the April 2007 Southborough Town Meeting, the Museum closed for 1 year for structural repairs including installation of a new heating and air conditioning system, rebuilding the chimney as well as cleaning, painting, ... The museum re-opened duirng the Spring of 2008 with updated exhibits on Town Maps, Southborough School History, Joseph Burnett's Family and Business History and more... See museum operating hours below ..... We look forward to seeing you at our museum which is located at 25 Common Street behind the Southborough Town House. The Historical Society has put on many exhibits in our Museum over the years. We have permanent exhibits as well as special exhibits that are updated periodically. An exhibit that opened in May, 2008 shows pharmaceutical products and advertisements of the Joseph Burnett Company (see more information on the Joseph Burnett Company in our site). WWII "Wall of Names" showcase - Southborough Historical Society members collected newspaper archives, war monument and funeral/cemetery records to create the "Wall of Names" showcasing residents who served in WWII. It was unveiled on Veterans Day 2006 and was open for a short time. The "Bits of Southborough" exhibit opened for a short time until the end of April, 2005. This exhibit included items pertaining to Southborough Arms, fabric and crafts created by Southborough residents, Fire Department history, the Woodward School, local sports photos and more.
Pictures above are examples from current "Bits of Southborough" exhibit including a handloom used by a Southborough Resident during the 19th century and other various items such as vintage shoes and bonnets In May 2005, we opened the exhibit "Water", with subjects including the Sudbury River, the MDC and the Reservoir, the Mills along Stony Brook and other historical items pertaining to "water" in Southborough.
The MDC Reservoir and Dam - Southborough, MA The museum is normally open on Monday and Tuesday mornings from 10 AM until 12 noon and Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8PM as well as other special times to be announced - such as Heritage Day Weekend and during the December holiday period.
