Southborough Historical Society Museum
Please stop in our Museum during our open hours most Sunday's from 1-3PM (sorry we have limited staff volunteers). Besides our regular exhibits, we have numerous Southborough Historical items for Sale including our Town Flag T-Shirt which is available in a variety of sizes from Youth to Adult.
Burnett/Garfield Mansion at 84 Main Street
in July of 2014, the Town heard of the pending sale of the Burnett/Garfield stone house mansion at 84 Main St. to a developer who planned to demolish it. This photo from circa 1900 shows the Stone House #1 when the tower was still on the roof and shortly after the expansion of Stony Brook as part of the Massachusetts District Commission Sudbury Reservoir. Numerous discussions and efforts in town quickly developed including a grass roots coordination (see www.historicalgood.org) seeking to insure the message got out to everyone to hopefully find an alternative to the demolition. Luckily the sale fell through. The effort to save the house continues. More information can be found on the Friends of the Burnett-Garfield House Facebook page.
